Gambling Zones of the Russian Federation

Next year, a project called "gambling zones of the Russian Federation" will hit 10 years. Recall that today there are five gambling zones in Russia:

  1. Azov-City
  2. Amber (Yantarnaya)
  3. Primorye
  4. The Siberian Coin
  5. Sochi Casino and Resort

Azov-City

For eight years of operation of all casinos, "Azov-City" brought about 1.2 billion rubles to the budget of the Krasnodar Territory  (taxes on gambling). Of all the operating zones, this is the most successful, but also the most long-suffering. After the opening of the casino in Sochi, the government of the country always intended to close  this project. However, investors - the company "Shambala" and "Royal Time Group" - insisted on the continuation of the operation - after all, the invested funds should be recouped.

At the moment in Azov-City the problem with transport accessibility is not solved:  no one is going to build good roads.  . Surprisingly, the liquidation of the project is scheduled for 2019, and casinos here annually show better profitability than in other areas.

The company "Shambala" is going to build a large entertainment complex in Primorye and has already invested 8 billion rubles in this project. They plan to build a casino area of 16 000 square meters  and a hotel for 40 000 square meters.

Primorye - Russian Macau

Who would have thought that the gambling zone in Vladivostok seriously planned to compete with the Chinese Macau.  But this is how the project was seen by investors. The calculation was that the simplified registration of visas in the port city would remove the deterrent factor of Asian tourists and they would go to the casino of Primorye.

Today, 20-25% of the plan is implemented. The fact is that the construction of the entire complex is very slow.  One casino and infrastructure facilities are fully constructed and running. The flow of visitors is about 500 thousand people a year. The revenue to the treasury of the region is $ 15-20 million.

In 2017, the project of a railway connection between Beijing and the Primorye zone was approved. Investors have already alloctaed more than $ 12 billion in this construction. A large influx of Asian players is expected.

Siberian coin and Amber - long-term perspective

In these zones, time seemed to be frozen. Construction is conducted at a snail's pace. In a few years, one casino has been built, and infrastructure facilities are at an embryonic stage altogether.

Solving problems with transport accessibility has been postponed for several years already. The actual timeframe is 2020-2022. More advanced officials suggest that the Chinese partners should be involved in the development of these zones. Asian investments will help to solve the most urgent problems quickly: the lack of hotels, restaurants, good roads and other infrastructure facilities.

Sochi

Perhaps the most promising gambling zone in Russia is the Black Sea resort, Krasnaya Polyana, with its developed infrastructure and  warm climate. It is no wonder that literally for a year of casino operation in Sochi it broke all records of popularity of "Azov-City" and brought more revenues to the country's budget.
