1. Kazan has an officially registered brand "The Third Capital of Russia"
Back in 2009, Kazan managed to register its trademark in  Rospatent named as  "Third Capital of Russia". The main competitor of the capital of Tatarstan was Nizhny Novgorod.
 
2. Kazan is the only city in Russia, where a subway was built after the collapse of the USSR.   Today it is one of the most beautiful subways in the country.
 
3. Kazan is called the "City of Red Buses".
 
Earlier in Kazan, there were a lot of private minibuses. They connected all areas of the city. In 2007, the administration of  the city decided to change minibuses to normal ones, and purchased several hundred Chinese buses of red color. Among them, the most common are Higer and Golden Dragon.

4. "Kazan Kremlin" is included in the “UNESCO World Heritage Sites”.
 
5. Kazan was the largest city in Russia in the XVIII century. According to the census of 1738, Kazan was the largest city in Russia -   almost two hundred thousand people lived there.

In fact, citizens of Tatarstan have two presidents: the president of the Russian Federation and the president of the Republic of Tatarstan.  
 
7. Kazan is one of the oldest cities in Russia.

8. Two cultures have merged in the capital of Tatarstan in almost equal proportion: the two largest Russian ethnic groups live there - Russians and Tatars.
