The fans of the Football World Cup preferred “We Will Rock You” and “Katyusha” as the most popular songs that sounded in the Moscow metro during the days of the World Cup.
As Maksim Liksutov, the Head of the Department for Transport and Development of Road Infrastructure, told the web portal of the Deputy Mayor of Moscow, the number of listeners of the participants of the project titled “Music in the Metro” increased 1.5 times after the start of the championship.
“Musical tastes of tourists and fans who came to Moscow for the 2018 World Cup differ, the songs of such famous bands as Queen and Metallica are familiar to the majority of foreigners, so when the cover versions of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” (Queen), “Nothing Else Matters” (Metallica) were played in the metro, tourists actively sang along, applauded, made selfies with musicians and danced”, he noted.
In addition, the fans from the Middle East often asked to perform the song popular in their region - Habibi (Maître Gims), and the guests from Latin America likes the hit “Asereje” of the Spanish “Las Ketchup” quartet.
Foreigners actively sang along to such well-known Russian songs as "Smuglyanka" and "Katyusha".
As for the most frequently asked questions in the Moscow metro, they are the following.
Most often the fans ask people and voulunteers the questions on how to get to Red Square, where Nikolskaya Street is located (by the way, they often show pictures of the street with crowds of foreigners taken from the Internet) and where the “station with the dogs” is situated, meaning to the “Ploshchad Revolutsii” station, as Liksutov told. In addition, according to him, tourists ask “where Lenin sleeps” and whether it is possible to spend a night in the metro having an unlimited travel ticket for a day.
