Saransk International Airport (IATA code - SKX) is an international airport of federal significance in the Republic of Mordovia. The airport is located 5 km away from the city center and serves domestic and international charter flights. This is the only airport in the entire Republic of Mordovia.
After the reconstruction specially for the Russia FIFA World Cup 2018, the airport began to accept such aircraft as Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320. Also, an absolutely new terminal was built on the territory of the airport, the area of which is about 7000 square meters. The new terminal of the airport is capable to serve up to 300 people per hour.
Registration of passengers and luggage handling for domestic flights usually starts 2 hours and ends 40 minutes before the time of departure. The passengers of international lines register 2 hours and 30 minutes before the departure time.
