Smoking rooms at theairports will be equipped with good ventilation and located in areas where registered visitors can stay, so the smoking process will not be not visible from other rooms. It is assumed that smoking rooms will be equipped with special ventilation systems that will protect non-smokers from the smoke.
Passengers will be able to visit the smoking rooms after passing through an inspection before flight, as well as in areas intended for transittravelers. At the same time, smoking rooms should be installed so that “the possibility of observing smokers from other premises is excluded”, according to the text of the bill.
At the next stage, the bill will be considered by the Federation Council. will decide on the allocation of special zones for smokers after the bill is finally adopted, asthe airport’s press service said. “Presently, for the sake of comfort of passengers at the airport, special smoking areas have been organized, theyare located at a short distance from the entrances to the passenger terminal building”, they specified.
The Deputy Sergei Boyarsky proposed to return smoking rooms to airports in November 2017. According to him, the ban on smoking throughout the airport is inefficient, and airport visitors often violate the requirement not to smoke in public places. The State Dumaapproved the bill in the first reading in July of this year. As IzvestiaNewspaper reported at the end of September, the Ministry of Healthcareproposed to place smoking rooms in the “clean” area of the airport and confine their number to two.
According to the Ministry, such roomsshould be located as far as possible from the inspection are, as well as from the routes of passengers to the gates and exits from the building.
