October 20, 2009 00:16

The most intensive transportation in Russia is high-density traffic between St. Petersburg and Moscow. Two Russian capitals are tied by several means of transport, and each of them is preferred by different people, having different reasons for that. Each type of transportation, by car, by train and by plane has its advantages and disadvantages, tied with the price and time you spend traveling.

1. By car
First of all, the Russian capitals are tied with the M10 highway, which begins in the traffic jam on the Leningradsky Avenue and goes through St. Petersburg farther to Vyborg and to the frontier with Finland as M10 Scandinavia. The distance between St. Petersburg and Moscow amounts to 664 km. The M10 highway has the drives to the cities of Novgorod and Tver. Going down the highway, you pass them by, and the journey takes you about 8 hours. The main advantage of the journey by car is that you dispose your time without depending on any schedules. The main disadvantage is that the road is rather difficult. The first problem is traffic jams in Moscow; the second one is unimproved road, now under reconstruction, in the Novgorod Region. Third one is tracks, especially on the pieces of the road reducing. The last, but very important problem is rather wild style of driving in Russia, being practiced by all the road users, including the track drivers. The price of such journey depends on the model of the car, you will drive.

2. By train
This way to get from St. Petersburg to Moscow and back is the oldest and the most popular ones. Moreover, the railroad between St. Petersburg and Moscow is the oldest one in Russia. The cheapest ticket in the coach costs 580 rubles. Such train runs the same 8 hours, the driving would take you.

The ticket in more comfortable compartment coach, where you can sleep during the entire journey, costs 2 thousands rubles. High-speed trains, taking 4, 5 hours cost 3 - 5 thousand rubles. The return ticket costs a little more. The choice of train services is very wide. And all of them you can book and buy on-line through our site. Advantages of the train service are obvious, moreover, a very high level of comfort is provided in the high-speed trains. Among the disadvantages is that you should buy the tickets in advance, because the route is extremely popular.

3. By plane
The flight from St. Petersburg to Moscow or back takes the traveler 1 hour 20 minutes. A plenty of air carriers provides such service, from Aeroflot, the oldest, most respectable and expensive air company of Russia to low cost companies like Sky-express. The prices of the tickets begin from 500 rubles without airport charge and other extras. All the Moscow airports provide this service about three times a day. Doubtless, this way is the fastest one, especially if you use on-line registration. Unfortunately, not all of us like flying and plains.

Moreover, the flights of some low-cost companies often do not departure in time. As a result, good and expensive train and plain services do not distinguish from each other very much: flying by plane, you spend few hours for transfer to and from the airport, especially if you take a taxi, and for waiting for departure in the airport. By the way, we can offer you fast Transfer Service to and from any Moscow airport, railway station and bus station. There are also railway services between the centre of the city and the airports.

Anyway, only you can choose your optimal variant, we can only provide the information.
