The official hotel of the Hermitage Museum opened in Saint Petersburg on October 4. This five-star hotel is the only one in Russia and abroad that won the right to use the trademarks of the museum under a license agreement.
The building reconstructed in the years 1936-1937 into the Culture Palace of Food Industry Personnel has been restored and adapted into a hotel with the preservation of the historical U-shaped building plan, front facades and with the restoration of all lost elements of decoration.
The architectural designers used the design ideas of museum halls when creating an interior sketch. The connection with the well-known architects who worked on the buildings and halls of the Hermitage is reflected in the names of the eight multifunctional meeting rooms, the main one of them bearing the name of Carlo Rossi. One can see porcelain and furniture replicas of things from the Hermitage collection in the halls and rooms of the hotel. Hardwood floors, lighting, materials and colors also correlate with the interior of the museum.
A special bus for the guests from the hotel will run between the hotel and the Hermitage all day long; it will be possible to purchase the tickets to the museum, to learn about the new temporary exhibitions, to get an idea of the permanent exhibitions and even to join the Club of the Hermitage Friends in the special Hermitage center in the entrance area.
