Morskoy Glaz (“Sea Eye”) is an incredibly beautiful lake of karst origin located on a mountain slope.

From above it really looks like a huge round eye with fluffy spruces growing around it as eyelashes. The name “Morskoy Glaz” is mostly popular among tourists, the locals call the same lake Mushyl Yer. This water reservoir got its name thanks to the amazing color of its water – as emerald green as the sea. The color contrast is especially noticeable when compared with other lakes of the region which can be seen from the mountain. This water color give is given to the water by green algae growing there. Besides, the lake can be compared with the sea even in its depth - it reaches 38.5 meters in some places. Spruces and firs grow on the lake shores, as well as forget-me-nots in summer.

A brook flows out of the lake, there you can get water to drink. Despite the fact that the water in the lake is perfectly pure, the locals prefer to replenish their water supplies from the springs.

Local features

It is better to come here in summer when you can swim in the lake or go fishing. And it is easier to get here in the warm season. The highest air temperature is recorded in mid-July (+ 24 ° ... + 28 °). The temperature at the surface of the water rises to 20 ° C in summer, so if you are hardened enough, you’ll be able to swim. At this, the bottom temperature does not exceed 4 ° C.

It is worth remembering that the lake is located on the northern slope of the Sharinskie Mountains, so the sun rays reach this place during only a part of the daytime. In order not to get cold, make sure you have warm clothing. The desperate can use the bungee installed on the shore, so that you could jump into the water. Fans of fishing can bring a fishing pole, and they will probably catch roach, silver porgy, perch, golden carp, loach, bleak and even pike.
