The Zhigulevsky Reserve completely coincides with the territory of the national park. It can be considered a protected area of Samarskaya Luka. However, these are two different structures managed by different people. The relation of these organizations to tourism is also different. The Zhigulevsky Reserve has recently turned to face the tourists, created and improved two new routes. But the national park almost does not facilitate tourists.
One of the most landscaped places of the park is the Molodetsky Burial Mound. Information boards stand there, the territory is fenced. At the same time Petrov Kamen’ (Petrov Stone) is the territory of bush hunters. The ascent to the rock begins from the bushes and goes through chalk slopes that are sometimes quite steep, so this route is not recommended to people who are not prepared for it. The most part of the rock masses of Zhiguli can be accessed by land. You can ascend the Popova and Monastyrskaya mountains from the village of Shiryaevo.
The neighborhood district Morkvashi of the town of Zhigulyovsk is located very close to the Sokol Cliff (or Petrov Stone). The Molodetsky Burial Mound can be reached through the settlement of Zhiguli. However, ship excursions to the most interesting points of Zhiguli are equally popular in Samara Oblast. The construction of special observation towers, hiders and shelters for fans of watching the wildlife began in the national park. You can learn more details about this service and book a tour by the telephone: 8-927-899-76-48. The “Samarskaya Luka” National Park has 3 museums: the House-Museum of the poet Aleksandr Shiryaevets (the village of Shiryaevo), the House-Museum of the artist Ilya Repin (the village of Shiryaevo) and the Ethnographic Museum in the village of Bolshaya Ryazan.
