The National Park “Prielbrusye” (“The Elbrus Region”) is located deep in the Baksanskaya Valley, at the foot of the highest peak of Europe - the two-headed Elbrus.
The main ski slopes and lifts of Kabardino-Balkaria are located on the slopes of the Elbrus and Cheget mountains (3700 m). The main ski areas of the Baskanskaya Valley are: Elbrus where you can go skiing and snowboarding all year round, Cheget where the ski season usually lasts from December to the end of May.
The trails of the resorts are well equipped and are ideal both for professionals and amateurs, as well as for beginners. Cableways are comfortable and safe. In summer you can go mountain climbing, rock climbing, riding mountain bikes. But only with an instructor! The National Park “Prielbrusye” (“The Elbrus Region”) was created in 1986.
The territory of the park has 23 recreational facilities, about 5 thousand people can have rest here during a season. There are six villages in the Elbrus region: Verkhniy Baksan, Neytrino, Elbrus, Tegenekli, Baidaevo, Terskol. The nearest town is Tyrnyauz, the administrative centre of the Elbrus District.
