Lakes Of Shirinsky District
October 3, 2015 16:40

There is another lake of Shirinsky district – Belye – half an hour away from Zhemchuzhny if you go by car. To be more precise, these are two lakes connected by a narrow creek: one with fresh water, another with salt water.

The first lake has sky-blue water, the second – that of a purple hue due to reddish clay and high content of iron. The surrounding area is treeless, hilly, open. The shores are overgrown with reeds and water lilies; lush gray brushes of feather grass are splashing on the beach.

The water in the lake is close to the sea in the degree of salt concentration, so it is home to purely sea species of salmon - chum salmon, bull-trout and whitefish. Three years ago Maly Stretch of the Belye Lake was empty and uninhabited. Now, thanks to volunteers from the state budgetary institution “The Lakes of Khakassia”, it is equipped with a recreational area and a beach with cabanas, sunshades, deckchairs and a rescue tower in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards. There is a volleyball playground, a tennis court, a Russian bath is operating.

Tents and wooden houses are rented. But the majority of tourists live in their tents. Many of them go to the Belye Lake not only for bathing and pale golden tan, but also in search of hiking romance - fresh air of the steppe, baked potatoes, playing beach volleyball and singing songs around the fire until dawn.

Important information. Mineral water from the well room at the Shira Resort helps digestion, but you should drink it no later than half an hour before lunch, otherwise it may cause indigestion. Local peculiarities. Just like in Sochi and the Crimea, the locals in Zhemchuzhny rent out apartments, houses and outhouses to guests.
