The lake is surrounded by the mighty mountains: Sinyukha and Malaya Sinyukha. Their eastern and south-eastern slopes are covered with forests. One of the main rivers of the Altai – Katun – flows near the lake.
There is a famous mineral spring officially recognized as a natural monument in the village of Manzherok. Its waters have healing properties.
Another well-known source - Arzhan-Suu – is located only seven kilometers from Manzherok.
The area of Manzherok is a concentration of natural attractions, it seems that it is a centre of natural monuments: the incredibly beautiful Cheremshansky Waterfall is located in seven and a half kilometers from the village, Kamyshlinsky Waterfall – in twenty kilometers, the famous Tavdinskiye Caves are only nine kilometers away, and the water park on Biryuzovaya Katun – seven kilometers away.
Besides, a rapid at the Katun River where the fans of rafting and other water sports check their strength every year is located right next to the village. The residents of the Altai called the Lake of Manzherok “Doingol”. The water in the lake is perfectly suitable for drinking, it contains useful minerals.
Manzherok is famous for the fact that the rare water ling walnut grows here. It is suitable for food as soon as it is ripe, people made a variety of crafts and amulets of it some time ago. However, you should be careful - unripe walnuts cannot be tasted!
