If you look at Sibai and its career from the top, with a decent height, you will see a huge hole in the ground that resembles an imprint into the ground of giant pyramid. And the city will seem a modest settlement, distributed along the edge of the crater. It is not an exaggeration: Sibai quarry ranked second in the world after the Chile's Chuquicamata by depth. Its depth is more than a half of kilometer and its diameter is two kilometers.
There are six kinds of mined ores containing 15 components: gold, silver, copper, iron and sulfur ... The harsh black and red slopes surround the road like screw, gradually leading to the bottom. Earlier it was used for incessantly shuttling of immense BelAZ, mining trucks with the height of several meters. Previously, the path took them two and a half hours, and the audience at the top of the trucks was seen like toys, no longer than nail. Previously - because now the works are suspended in the open Saibai career. Not because there is nothing to produce, but because there is a real threat of collapse of the walls. Now the works are carried out by mine method.
In addition, nearby, also in the city, there has been appeared another quarry - Kamagansky. It is not so big, but as they say, let it have time. Sibai quarry has always been considered as the leading by the method of extraction and transportation of ore. It was here the first time in Russia where they began to unload the extracted valuable rock into the dump cars (special freight cars) at the bottom of the quarry and to raise up by the skip winch.
Today, this winch is not functional, but it is perfectly visible on the slope. Next to it, you can fully grasp the scale of the construction: the track is literally lost in the depths of the earth. Now Sibai quarry with its blades began to be overgrown with greenery. The view is picturesque and surreal: tender leaves of birches are trembling on the dusty slopes, huge crows are drinking from the copper and red puddles and cows are jumping on the plates at the edge of the crater – so they save themselves from annoying foxes, or they are quietly grazing over the giant pit.
