The famous “town of the flooded bell tower on the Volga River”.

It is better to go to Kalyazin in warmer months when the banks of Volga are particularly picturesque. The climate in Kalyazin is moderately continental.

The average January temperature is 9 degrees below zero, and 17 degrees above zero in July. Air humidity is increased, especially in spring and autumn.

Fishing fans can enjoy their hobby at the fishing and sporting centre “Sknyatino” which is neatly located at the confluence of the rivers Volga, Volnushka and Nerl. Here and in the nearby lakes you can find the following fish species: roach, nerfling, perch, pike, pike-perch, catfish, burbot.

River banks in these areas are rich in mushrooms and berries.

Hostorical Dates

In XV century Kalyazin Trinity Monastery was founded here. The status of a county town was received by Kalyazin in 1775.

In 80s of XIX century Saint Vvedenskaya Church was built in the town. The cathedral was built on the money of the merchant called of Ivan Okhlobystin.

From XV to XIX century Kalyazin was famous for lace woven by local needlewoman. Unfortunately, you cannot purchase samples of these unique arts and crafts now - the era of Kalyazin lace is long over.
