Irbit, a town in Sverdlovsk Oblast, is a motor-bike capital of Russia. The foundation of Irbit was associated with the construction of first state ironworks in the Urals in 1630-1631.
In 1775 Catherine the Great awarded the settlement with a town status. In XIX century Irbit Fair was the second in Russia in terms of turnover funds.
In Soviet times the town developed rapidly and quickly turned into an industrial centre. And during the Second World War the plants evacuated from other cities were placed here. Thus, Moscow Motor-bike Plant moved to Irbit.
Now Motor-bike Museum with a rich and interesting exposition located in one of the buildings of the Irbit Motor-bike Plant in the town. It presents not only domestic, but also foreign samples of motor-bike production. Many historical and architectural monuments of XIX - early XX centuries are preserved in the central part of the town.
From the South the town is adjacent to pine and pine-birch forests, from the East – to the “Elm Grove” Natural Reserve, and a large park is located in the northern part of the town. Children's medical and health institutions are located near the town.
