History.
Numerous archaeological findings were made on the territory of Sinitsinsky pine forest, including the remains of mammoths, traces of the ancient Andronovo culture and the ancient settlement of sargats. No other town in Russia has such a large number of sculptures and images of the Humpbacked Horse as Ishim.
Legends.
The town has a monument to Parasha-the Siberian girl. It is said that the girl walked on foot from Ishim to Moscow to beg forgiveness of Nicholas II for her father who was exiled to Siberia. The emperor was so amazed with the brave girl’s action that he fulfilled her request. The traveler herself, however, fell ill and died after this incredibly long and difficult journey.

Every year in March the town hosts a large theatre “Ishim Theatrical Games of the Young People”, and in December it hosts the famous St. Nicholas Fair, which is one of the largest in Siberia and is held at the Sobornaya (Cathedral) Square of Ishim.
What to bring from Ishim.
Souvenirs with the image of the Humpbacked Horse which have long been the hallmark of the Ishim. They can be purchased in the shop at the Ershov Museum.
