Belokurikha is the most famous resort of the Altai Territory. Pure mountain air is a local feature, and tour operators like to compare the air with the atmosphere of the Swiss Davos, moreover the number of air ions is larger here in Belokurikha.
Local climate is nice, albeit northern, by the number of sunny days Belokurikha approaches the resorts of the Caucasus and Crimea. Finally, the town is famous for its mineral springs. Due to these very springs, the future town was built as a resort village in the 1920s. T
he first stone building of the hydropathic resort - white and blue one with columns - has survived until today. Now it hosts a Town Museum named after the Altai scientist Stepan Gulyaev. Modern Belokurikha is divided into two parts: the usual “working” part and the resort.
The first part of the town is not different from any other town in the district: gray paneled five-storey buildings, several shops and hotels, a couple of cafes, a small central square with benches and a fountain. The resort area is different. It is also small - a square with hotels, resorts and recreation centres concentrated around it. This area looks livelier and more interesting.
