Russian North: Mezen
June 19, 2017 18:11

The ancient city of the Russian North, Mezen, is known for paintings on wood, excellent hunting and fishing, wonderful nature and protected places.

Mezensky District is the northernmost and largest in its region. Its northernmost point, Voronov Cape, is located near the Polar circle.

The Morzhovets Island is located behind the Polar circle. The city of Mezen is situated on the right bank of the Parana River, 45 km away from the White Sea. What to bring home: souvenirs made of wood, painted silver and gold, Boretskaya painting, decorative cases. And if you’re lucky, then also bring Mezenskaya painting.
