The Town of Zeya
December 16, 2017 00:02

The town of Zeya is sometimes called “little Paris”, although it has nothing to do with Paris. It is a usual Far Eastern town: low-rise buildings, disgusting roads, wonderful nature.

100 kilometers away from the nearest railway station. A one-day trip for reaching the regional centre, Blagoveshchensk. There is an airport near the tow, but it has long been abandoned.

Earlier gold was mined and wood was cut there, then in 1975 a hydroelectric power station was built in Zeya, it became a town-forming enterprise. The second largest HPP in the Far East is the best thing in the town (apart from the Far Eastern nature).

The Zeyskoe water reservoir begins right behind the dam of the power plant, it was meant to improve the local climate, but it did not: the winters are long and frosty. The water in summer is really warm, even hot, but summers are very short and rainy.
