A separate issue is presented by the historical monuments on the territory of the park - the “Zaryadye” complex includes a total of nine ancient cathedrals that have the status of monuments of federal significance.
The “Zaryadye Park” occupies 13 hectares of the historical Zaryadye district between Moskvoretskaya Embankment, Varvarka Street and Kitaygorodsky Proyezd. This area has been documented since 1365, but it certainly emerged even earlier. Once a trading centre of medieval Moscow rustled here: it has a pier, warehouses, benches, cathedrals of Varvara (Barbara) the Great Martyr and Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of travelers; the main Velikaya Street of this district later turned into Mokritsky lane.
The huge budget of the entire “Zaryadye” is invested, among other things, in their restoration, and in archaeological studies.
The “Zaryadye” complex includes a total of nine ancient cathedrals that have the status of monuments of federal significance: The Church of St. Anne's Conception on Moskvoretskaya Embankment and the Church of St. Varvara the Great Martyr (XVI century), one of the oldest in Moscow, the Church of Holy Trinity in Nikitniki with the elegant Moscow ornament of XVII century, the Church of St. Maxim the Confessor and the Church of St. George the Victorious, the preserved constructions of the former Znamensky Monastery, the “The Old English Court” Museum, the Chamber of the Romanov Boyars.
It is planned that the historical appearance of the baroque Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist (the beginning of XVII century) destroyed during the Soviet years will be restored. All these monuments, of course, will continue to exist.
