The national park "Shushensky Bor" was organized on November 3, 1995. The territory of the park is 39 hectares in total. A distinctive feature of the park is not only the beauty of its landscapes, but also the richness of archaeological and historical monuments.

The national park is located in the Shushensky district, in the southern part of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, almost in the center of the Asian mainland. In the territorial boundaries of the national park "Shushensky Bor" there are two sections: flat and relatively small in size in the Minusinsk hollow and mountainous in the north of the Western Sayan. The highest point is 2925 meters above sea level. In addition, in the protected area there are small streams and two lakes - Butakovo and Perovo.

The territory of the park is dominated by sharply continental climate. Summer is warm, sometimes hot. The air temperature reaches + 40 ° Ñ. The warmest month is July, the average daily temperature is + 20 ° C. Winter is characterized by a low amount of precipitation, the temperature drops to -50 ° C. January is the coldest month, its average temperature is -20 ° Ñ.
Hiking trails and sightseeing routes are laid in the Shushensky Bor National Park.
Tourists explore the Museum of Forestry History, the experimental section of the inter-school forestry "Berendey", the sand dune "Crane Hill", the height of which is 35 m from the foot to the top. The swamp approaches the dune very close, that is a rare combination, but typical for Shushenskiy Bor, and the cranes live in the swamp.

Tourists also enjoy the view of Lake Perovo, which is more than 10 thousand years old. The area of the lake is the oldest, the most preserved part of the forest. On the shore of the lake, under the guidance of scientific staff of the historical and ethnographic museum, a hut was built. Such huts were typical for peasants in the 19th century.
The favorite place for tourists is the Sand Hill, the highest sand dune in the Shushenskiy Bor. Its height is 45 m from the foot.
The Shushenskoye village adjacent to the Bor, the Yenisei River and the right bank - the deserted Coibal steppe, the five-vertex Borus ridge, which is located in the mountainous part of the Shushensky Bor are viewed from the mountain.
Another tourist object of the park is Macherkina hill - a monument of the Bronze and Iron Ages. There were settlements of Afanasyev, Tagar and Tashtyk epochs. This archeological monument was opened in 1948 by the teacher of the history of the village school of Shushensk, A. Gorlevskiy.
