The Shushensky Bor National Park is located on the territory of the Shushensky Region of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, at the junction of two natural and climatic zones - the forest-steppe and taiga, including the natural-territorial complexes of the Western Sayan and the Minusinsk Basin.
Territory
The park is a specially protected territory of the Federal significance. The total area of the Shushensky Bor National Park is 39,710 hectares.
The Shushensky Bor National Park was established on November 3, 1995 to protect and organize the recreational usage of the south-taiga forest and mountain forest ecosystems of the Western Sayan and numerous historical and archaeological sites. Shushensky Bor consists of two cluster forest districts: Perovskiy, which is a forest-steppe zone, and a mountains zone, located in the mountain system of the Western Sayan. The distance between the cluster sites is 72 km.

Unique Nature
Shushensky Bor is famous for its mountain cedar forests, banded pine forests and lacustrine-boggy complex. In the park 750 species of plants, 270 species of birds, 9 species of amphibians and reptiles, and 47 species of mammals are protected. In the forest you can find rare and petering plants, including Adonis vernalis, Siberian brunner, Anemone altaica, Pallas primroses, Urals peony and male shield fern.
Among the mammals, Lepus europaeus, squirrel, bear, fox, sable, red deer, roe deer, musk deer, elk, wild boar and Siberian red deer predominate. There is also Mustela sibirica, Gulo, wolf, lynx, ermine, Russian polecat, American mink and otter. Most animals living in the Shushensky Bor National Park are included in the Red Books of Russia and the Krasnoyarsk Territory: black stork, bar-headed goose, fish-hawk, Aquila heliaca, golden eagle, white-tailed eagle, saker falcon, peregrine, black crane, Bustard and others.
