A popular souvenir from Kazan can be a traditional male headdress (in Tatar "tubatei") - perhaps not the most practical thing in the world, but extremely colorful. The cheapest ones, which are "made in China", not in Kazan, cost from 100 rubles. More expensive models from local manufacturers can be inlaid with various stones. A kalfak is a traditional female headdress.
 

Kazan cat is an amazing character of Tatar folklore, architectural appearance of Kazan and real history. This particular breed was bred in Kazan specially for catching mice. When Empress Elizabeth knew that, she ordered to bring 30 representatives of this noble family to St. Petersburg to catch rodents in the unfinished Winter Palace. Later, legends appear, like the Cat, who became a hero of folk tales, warned the Kazan khan about the undermining under the wall of the Kremlin. Today the Cat is not only a monument on Bauman Street, but also a wonderful souvenir from the city. It can be made of  glass, clay, stone, and metal. 
 

 

3. Religious souvenirs
 

Many tourists start buying various religious souvenirs as gifts. Primarily Muslim. In addition to a variety of beads and decorated Koran, tourists buy shamali. Shamail are samples of calligraphic suras of the Koran, which can be executed absolutely on any material: printed on paper, painted in ink, depicted on canvas. 
 

 

 

It is the best edible souvenir from Kazan. This is a real work of art and an important element of the Tatar cuisine. At the millennium of Kazan,  a special chak-chak was made, which weighed exactly a ton. The most delicious samples can be found in the network of supermarkets "Bakhetle" and  the culinary store, located at Bauman str., 21.
 

 

5. Sports souvenirs
 

Kazan is one of the few cities in the country where successful professional sports teams are present -  the football team "Ruby", the hockey team "Ak Bars", basketball UNICS, volleyball "Zenith" - all of them act quite fruitfully both at the Russian and international level. Therefore, an element of the attributes of one of these clubs will be a good gift. If you are going to buy a rose (that is, a scarf), go to the club's branded store (for comparison: the cost of the Rubin scarf downtown is 750 rubles, while  in the club store, which is located at the Central Stadium -  about 290 rubles).
