Sochi National Park

Sochi National Park is the second oldest park in the Russian Federation.

Location

It is located near the resort city of Sochi. Its area amounts to almost 200 thousand hectares. The Mzymta River flows on the territory of the park, it has long been admired by rafting enthusiasts from around the world. At the same time, diverse landscape, many species of exotic animals and unforgettable views made the National Park the landmark of this region.

Trails

Sochi National Park is not only a monument of the unique landscape. Its employees have made convenient forest trails and bridges for the visitors of the park to walk. In addition, almost fifty natural objects have been opened for visitors: these objects surprise with their pristine beauty. These include unique caves, waterfalls and canyons, and most importantly - the enchanting forest park zones with a picturesque landscape.

A distinctive feature of the park is the abundance of rivers and streams that create a huge number of canyons and waterfalls.

Sochi National Park is also famous for its unique caves, such as Vorontsovskaya and Akhunskaya caves. Local beech forests have a height of up to 50 meters. In addition, one fourth of all trees in the reserve are oaks growing on the slopes of the mountains.

Ecotourism

Sochi National Park is an outstanding place for ecotourism, due to the presence of a huge number of unique biological species on the territory. Many species of animals that can be found in the Sochi reserve are listed in the Red Book.

Speaking about animals, there are almost 80 different species in the park. It is necessary to mention deer, brown bear, otter, roe deer, marten and many others that can hardly be found in the forests of our country.

Besides, the rivers of the Sochi National Park are rich in rare species of fish.

Ecotourism is gaining popularity every year. Nowadays, it is fashionable and prestigious to engage in active recreation, spend nights in tents, as well as visit national reserves and parks.

Extreme tourists are offered rafting down the mountain rivers, horseback walks and trail orienteering.
