Reserve "Azas" (Republic of Tyva, Todzhinsky district, village Toora-Khem, st. Agbaan, 20)

The natural reserve "Azas" is located in the Todzha basin - a huge cavity inside the Altai-Sayan mountain system.

It also includes unique natural formations and landscapes of the lake-taiga complex with a group of lakes, mountain and tundra areas, as well as the high-mountain belt.

The unique state natural biosphere reserve "Ubsunur hollow" is one of the key areas of the Altai-Sayan Ecoregion, which  is included in the Global 200 list - a list of virgin or little-changed ecoregions of the world.

The Republic of Tyva is romanticly called the heart of Asia - it really stretches in the very center of this part of the world, incorporating the indescribable charm of Asian culture, its unique rhythm, sounds, smells and sensations. The land covers almost all the diversity of the world's natural zones, it is the country of endless steppes where  winds walk, and strong and turbulent rivers touch  the blue sky of mountain peaks.

The Republic of Tyva has a huge tourist potential: it is characterized by a unique variety of natural and climatic conditions with picturesque landscapes, richness of fauna and flora. In a relatively small area you can see all the natural areas of the Earth, with the exception of savannas and tropical rain forests.

On the territory of the Republic of Tyva there are 15 state nature reserves, 15 nature monuments and two nature reserves: the Azas nature reserve and the Ubsunur Hollow state biosphere reserve, which belongs to the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage sites, and is also included in the Global 200 List of the world ecoregions, almost or completely retaining the original appearance.

In the vastness of the Ubsunur Hollow there are many rare and beautiful animals, including the red wolf, the snow leopard, and the Altai mountain sheep. Staying at the recreation center "Ala-Taiga", each guest of the park can spend the night in a tent and meet the dawn in one of the most magical places in the world. There are regular hiking and horseback excursions.

The natural reserve “Azas” lies within the Todzha cavity - a giant hollow within the Altai-Sayan mountain system. Lakes placers and lively volcanoes, incredible landscapes and icy tops of the mountains - all these wonders of nature can be seen in these places. The local environmental education base Alan-Tos offers several interesting excursion routes and organizes fishing on local lakes.

The reserve is inhabited by many rare birds and animals that are endangered: the black stork, white-tailed eagle, snow leopard and the red wolf. But most of all, this place is known for the population of the rarest species, such as the Tuvinian beaver.

There is no corner in the whole world that brings together such a variety of natural belts; places where deserts merge with tundra forests, and reindeer live alongside camels and wolves. The meadows with bright flowers, mysterious lakes and healing springs - all this makes the Republic of Tyva so attractive for lovers of nature.
