State Natural Biosphere Reserve "Khankaysky"
The Khankaysky Nature Reserve is located in the south-western part of Primorsky Krai, on the coast and in the waters of Lake Khanka near the Russian-Chinese border.

The territory of the reserve predominantly consists of grassy marshes and meadows along the banks of Lake Khanka, its bays and the coastal zone of the water area.
Nature of the Reserve
Many waterfowl and many rare and endangered species of animals and plants live here. In total, 48 mammal species inhabit the reserve with 4 species listed in the Red Book of Russia. For example, here is one of the largest populations of the Far Eastern tortoise. There are also 7 species of reptiles (including the Korean long-tailed bird), 75 species of fish (for example, the Chinese perch-aukha), 533 species of aquatic invertebrates, 6 species of amphibians, 12 species of rare and endangered insects.

The Khankaysky reserve was created primarily to protect places of mass nesting and wintering of birds. There are 336 species of them with 44 species listed in the Red Book of Russia and 12 species in the International Red Book. Plus, 287 species are listed in the Annex to the International Convention on the Protection of Migratory Birds and Endangered Birds and their Habitats, 225 of them are especially protected. The rarest “pearls” of the reserve are the Japanese and Daurian cranes, the Far Eastern stork, reed beds, the red-footed ibis and others.

The parking of the ancient man
The site of the ancient man was found on the territory of the Khankaysky reserve on the Ryabokon Peninsula. The most ancient finds belong to the period of the ancient Stone Age and are 15 thousand years old.
Geographical position
The Khankaysky Reserve is located in the south of the Far East of Russia in the central part of the West Primorye Plain on the Prikhankaysky and Prisungachinsky lowlands, surrounded by low residual heights. The maximum elevation in the southern part of the reserve is Luzanova Sopka (102 m), and in the northern part - the Eagle Hill (146 m). Plains and lowlands occupy more than 90% of the area of the reserve. In addition to Asia’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Khanka, there are several other lakes: Trostnikovoye, Protoka and Krylovo. The territory of the reserve is 39 thousand hectares, plus a general purpose protection zone of 36 hectares - the total area of the protection zone is almost 74 hectares.
How to get there
Administration of the reserve: Primorsky Krai., Spassky district, city of Spassk-Dalny, ul. Ershova, 10. The reserve is located 220 km north of Vladivostok. You can get here by bus from Vladivostok to Spassk-Dalny, which runs 1 time per day, travel time - 10 hours.
