There are many national and natural parks, reserves, game reserves and other specially protected areas and natural sites in Primorye. There are a total of 6 reserves in the Primorsky Territory.

The Far Eastern Marine Reserve occupies an area of more than 64 thousand hectares; 63 thousand hectares of them are water areas. This is the only reserve of the country with 98% of territory constituted by the sea.

UNESCO granted the status of a biosphere reserve to the reserve in 2003.

The Lazovsky Nature Reserve with a rich history opened on the site of the former Southern Ussurisky Nature Reserve in 1940. 96% of the territory is covered by the forest: in particular, the largest yew-tree grove in the country is located there.

The “Kedrovaya Pad” Reserve
stretches along the eponymous river, among Black Mountains. It was opened in 1916 and today is considered one of the oldest in the country. Its territory has virgin relic forests with more than 900 species of higher plants.

The Russia Expedition - Winter Trans-Siberian Adventure tour starts in Moscow and ends in Vladivostok. The Russia Expedition - Winter Trans-Siberian Adventure is an Expedition tour for 15 days taking you from Moscow to Vladivostok and through other destinations.

The Khanka Natural Reserve contains an international internal reserve - Lake Khanka, belonging simultaneously to Russia and China. Whereas the most famous Sikhote-Alin Reserve was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In addition to nature reserves, there are 13 game reserves in the Primorsky Territory, including one hunting game reserve (Vasilkovsky), one federal game reserve (Barsovy) and one marine game reserve (Vostok Bay).

There are 3 national parks in the Primorsky Territory.
“Zov Tigra” (“Call of the Tiger”) National Park in Lazovsky district was opened in 2007 and provides unique opportunities for tourism due to the diversity of landscapes: there are several mountain and river systems, and the height of some points of the park makes up 1850 m above sea level. In addition, almost all Far Eastern endemic animals can be found in this national park.

The “Udege Legend” National Park was opened in the same year as “Zov Tigra”: Udege Legend is located on the territory of Krasnoarmeysky district. This national park was created in order to preserve the nature of the western slope of the Sikhote-Alin range and at the same time contribute to the development of ecotourism in the region. There are many archaeological sites on the territory of the park, including prehistoric camping grounds.

The youngest national park of the region was created in 2012 and was named “Land of the Leopard”. This name reflects the main purpose of the creation of the park: preservation and restoration of the number of Far Eastern leopards. Today there are a total of about fifty of these beautiful animals on the planet, and about 30 animals live in the Land of Leopard. The territory of the park is united with the “Kedrovaya Pad” Reserve and the Leopard game reserve: it covers Ussuriysky, Khasansky and Nadezhdinsky districts, stretching from the border with China to the Sea of Japan. Not only leopards, but also Amur tigers (also listed in the Red Book) live here.
