Podlemorie is a part of the northeast coast of Lake Baikal from the Dagarskaya Guba Bay in the north and to the valley of the Bolshoi Chivyrkui River in the south.
This is a vast coastal plain near the lake; it gradually turns into the slopes of the Barguzinsky Range.
There are traces of the ancient glaciation of the Barguzinsky Range along the entire length of Podlemorie.
Entertainment and attractions
There are many natural attractions, monuments of nature, archeology and history on the territory of Podlemorie.
There are two specially protected natural areas here: Barguzinsky State Biosphere Reserve and Zabaikalsky State National Park with the most attractive and convenient places for tourism within its borders.
The natural coastal objects of northern Podlemorie include: Dagarskaya Guba Bay, Birokan Cape, Nemnyanda Cape, Frolikha Bay and Lake Frolikha, Aya and Khakusy Bays, Turali Rocky Cape, Tompa (Tompuda) River, Shegnanda River, Pongony (Tolstoy) Cape, Kabanya and Bolshaya Rivers, Davsha Bay, Valukan (Zyryansky) Cape, Shumilikha River.
Specialty of Podlemorie: beach rest and rest in tent campsites, ecological tourism, rural tourism, water tourism, yachting, diving, trekking, fishing, active tourism in the foothills of the Barguzinsky mountain range and in the mountainous part of the Holy Nose peninsula. In winter this area is popular for ice fishing and ski tours on the ice of the lake.
