There are several famous mountains like Elbrus and Kazbek in Russia, where climbers from all over the world aspire to come. Here are some popular routes that will suit both professionals and people who are not experienced in climbing.

Elbrus

Its peaks are located on the border of Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria. There are no mountains higher than Elbrus in Russia.  Today Elbrus is one of the largest centers of skiing and tourism.   Climbers, skiers, and snowboarders are always here.

Elbrus is surrounded by beautiful peaks of the Caucasus: Ushba, Donguz-Orun and Nakra-Tau.

Kazbek

Kazbek is   five thousand years old and located on the border with Georgia. Here, at an altitude of more than 4 thousand meters, the ancient cave monastery complex Betlemi stands. Nearby is the old building of the weather station, which serves as a haven for climbers.

Kazbek attracts the attention of tourists with its majestic inaccessibility and beautiful nature. On the territory adjacent to the mountain the Trinity Church stands. Nearby, in the village of Stepantsminda, the cross of St. Nino, an enlightener of Georgia, was kept.

Tordoki-Yani

The highest peak of the Sikhote-Alin mountain system, located in the Amur region, is called Tordoki-Yani. It is located in the Khabarovsk Territory and rises to 2090 meters above sea level. The vanished cirque glaciers left a niche on the northern slopes of the mountain range. Now they are filled with moraine with small lakes. There are also forests, mountain tundra, scree, and elfin cedar here.

Munku-Sardyk

The peak, located on the border with Mongolia, is the highest point of the Sayan Mountains (3,491 meters). These mountain valleys are of glacial origin, it is possible to find several glaciers here, which are gradually disappearing.

Several  climbing routes have been laid on Munku-Sardyk. Most tourists come here in early May. The ascent begins along the icy bed of the Bely Irkut and Muguvek rivers in a picturesque canyon. The easiest route goes along the northern ridge.

Belukha

Belukha is named so because of the snow that covers the mountain completely. Its height is 4509 meters. The Katun River begins here and passes the border with Kazakhstan.

Today, popular mountaineering, horse riding and hiking routes pass through this area. The easiest way is to climb Belukha from the south side, more difficult - from Tomsk sites.
