Rafting is one of the most popular types of tourism in Yakutia. There is a huge number of various rivers here and a rich choice of routes, from  simple, requiring no special training, to routes of the VI category of complexity.

During the short summer, many people who love an unusual and extreme kind of recreation choose rafting. As it turned out, rafting down the rivers of Yakutia is rather expensive and not everyone can afford it. The best time for rafting is July and August. It should be noted that travel agencies work only by prior requests in order to provide a guide.

Yakutia is the richest region, the source of inexhaustible natural wealth. And one of the main resources of the region is, of course, local rivers: the famous Lena, the severe Kolyma and the obstinate Indigirka. The conquest of the northern waters has been going on for several centuries, and this exciting process has attracted more and more tourists.

But the greatest interest among the rafters is caused, first of all, by the mountainous rapids of the south and north-east of Yakutia - the Timpton and the Aldan with rapids of the fourth category of complexity. The  Chulman  is a bit more accessible: its obstacles reach the third category.

During rafting, it is quite possible to see the inhabitants of taiga: elk, bear, and even  white crane. Rafting in these parts is an amazing adventure for lovers of wildlife and thrills!

Rafting on the Lena River

The route on canoes and catamarans passes through the vast river close to the beautiful Lena rocks. During the trip, tourists will get acquainted with the main sights of the Lena Stolby National Park, visit the sand dunes (tukulans) and the oldest primitive man’s site in Yakutia. In the area of the national park along the banks of the Lena, as well as its tributaries, the Buotama and the Blue rivers, numerous remnants of the bedrock permits are distributed, forming “colonnades”, “towers”, “arches”, “cathedrals” and other fancy figures.

The Blue River

Getting to the Blue is quite difficult, first by car and then by all-terrain vehicle. Rafting  begins at Lena Pillars Park. The nature here is very picturesque, and the animal world is rich and diverse. The rafting ends on the Lena River in the village of Sinsk. The best period for rafting is July-August.

The Buotama River

The Buotama is flowing through the territory of the park "Lena Pillars". About 40 thousand years ago primitive mammoth and bison hunters lived on its banks, which is confirmed by archaeologists who discovered the sites. Beautiful nature and clear water  make the river attractive for travelers of different ages and experiences. On the way you can see elk, red deer, bear and many other animals and birds that inhabit these places. The best time for rafting is July-August.

The Moma River

The Moma River is the right tributary of the Indigirka. The beginning of the water route is in the village of Sasyr, Momsky District, located on the right marshland of the Moma. From here  you can see the most high-mountainous part of the Ulakhan-Chistai-Buordakh massif with its majestic summit of Mount Pobeda. The low banks are overgrown with forest.   One of the insidious obstacles on the river are the rapids, and for the traffic safety they must be examined from the shore.

After the influx of large tributaries Tirekhty, Taryn-Yuryakh, Buordakh into the Moma, the power of the water flow increases. In addition, in some channels, all the water goes under the ice. Sometimes the frost melts completely, turning into a shallow lake. Then, the river  gathers in a single channel again. The speed of the river gradually increases, especially in the shallows. After a sharp flush to the left, the river receives the largest tributary of the Erikit. The Moma gradually becomes wider, there are sandy islands there. The last section of the alloy is simple. The water route ends in the village of Honu, located on the right bank of the Indigirka River, which receives the waters of the Moma.

The Amga River

The Amga - one of the most picturesque rivers of Yakutia. According to the testimony of archaeologists, people have been living here for about 10 thousand years. The river is very clean. Many different types of birds live here. It is possible to meet the inhabitants of taiga. The recommended rafting time is July-August.

Rafting down the Bolshoy Nimnyr

The river belongs to the VI category of complexity. The journey runs along the purest river of South Yakutia, the Great Nimnyr, carrying its waters into the gold-bearing river – the Aldan. The route is a real gift for wildlife lovers. The village of Big Nimnyr, the beginning of the rafting route, is located in the middle of the Aldan Highlands, on the right bank of the river.

The river flows in a narrow valley. The channel width does not exceed 60 m. Throughout the entire rafting, there are 23 obstacles on the river. The distance between the obstacles is small, so that the alloy is intense and exciting. Obstacles on the river are arranged in ascending order, which makes it possible to practice and get used to the nature of the river. Special requirement for travel participants: rafting experience on mountain rivers. The recommended time for the rafting is July.

The Indigirka

This is a river for athletes, for people who decide to test themselves. The rafting ends in the village of Honu, and the Indigirka crosses the polar circle 17 km below it. The recommended time for rafting is July - mid-August.
