The idea to link the districts of Vladivostok, divided by the Golden Horn Bay and the Eastern Bosphorus Strait, has been in the air since the second half of the 19th century. The First World War postponed these plans for the uncertain future, then the Second World War stopped them, and only General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev took up this project seriously. He dreamed of turning Vladivostok into Russian San Francisco and building a bridge more impressive and more beautiful than the Golden Gate. He even introduced this project into the general plan, but the decision to build cable-stayed bridges was made only in the 2000s, and both bridges were built only in 2012 - for the APEC summit.

Golden and Russian bridges are impressive in size. They are both among the five largest cable-stayed bridges in the world. The length of the first is almost 1400 m, the second is 3100 m.
The construction of grandiose crossings started in 2008. And these objects are one of the main modern attractions of the capital of Primorye.
Golden Bridge (across the Golden Horn Bay) is located in the very center of Vladivostok, it connects the city with remote areas and the federal highway. It has 6 lanes for cars and there are sidewalks for pedestrians, so you can slowly enjoy the very beautiful views of the bay and the city.
The Russian bridge connects the Nazimov peninsula and the Novosilsky cape on the Russian island. The construction of this bridge has saved citizens (especially FEFU students, who have educational buildings and dormitories on the island) from taking a ferry or boat constantly to reach the place they need. The most beautiful views of this bridge can be seen from the Eagle's Nest, especially in the evenings when night lights are turned on.
The Russian bridge is included in the Guinness Book of Records: its span is 1104 m, the height of the pylons is 324 m. It is depicted on a new Russian banknote of 2000 RUB.
The Russia Expedition - Winter Trans-Siberian Adventure tour starts in Moscow and ends in Vladivostok. The Russia Expedition - Winter Trans-Siberian Adventure is an Expedition tour for 15 days taking you from Moscow to Vladivostok and through other destinations.
