The famous cemetery of locomotives is located near the station Shumkovo in the Perm region. In a railway deadlock surrounded by a dense forest, there are decommissioned locomotives and tractors. Huge black locomotives attract those who are interested in old trains and spectacular photo shoots.
In the autumn of 2018, two locomotives were removed from the Kamkoye landmark, but the open-air museum will not be completely destroyed. Two cars are under reconstruction in Perm now, and 14 old trains remain there.
The base of the Russian Railways mobile stock in Shumkovo is functioning, its territory consists of two parts: modern railway equipment and trains of the 30-50s on temporary placement. All of them were transported in 1967 from Kungur. Initially it was assumed that the machines would be a strategic reserve in case of war. Therefore, for decades, the railroad trains were under careful supervision and in working condition. Over time, the equipment decayed, some of the trains were bought by museums. But the remaining exhibits under the open air museum are protected today.

Some locomotives are in relatively good condition, with lubricated moving parts (which move easily and do not even creak), others are completely rusted. Almost all of them have big red stars on the front. In Soviet times, it was a secret object. And now the territory is protected. Try to visit this place until the locomotives are handed over for scrap metal. Now there are about two dozen locomotives here, and there used to be significantly more (in Soviet times, the number reached 140 units).
A visit to the Cemetery of steam locomotives can be combined with a trip to the city of Kungur, widely known for its numerous sights (Kungur Ice Cave, architectural monuments, etc.). In summer, the famous aeronautics festival "The Urals' Sky Fair" takes place here.
