By bus: Moscow - Vladimir, then Vladimir - Gus-Khrustalny;
By train: Moscow - Vladimir, then Vladimir - Gus-Khrustalny.

The Meschyora National Park  was created in 1992 in the Vladimir region to preserve the nature of the Meschyorsky lowland.  In 2003, the visitor center of the Meschyora park in the city of Gus-Khrustalny was created, where the  competitions, excursions, classes,   seminars,   meetings and quizzes are held. In 2004, there was an opening of the Museum of Nature called “The World of Birds of the National Park “Meschyora” at the village of Urshelsky.  The park’s own fire and chemical station appeared in 2012 after the terrible fires of 2010, which destroyed almost 7 thousand hectares of territory.  In 2015, the reserve expanded, and the Meschyorsky National Park with an area of 105 thousand hectares was added to it. Now the area of the national park reaches almost 300,000 hectares.

The number of rivers and lakes in the Meshchyora National Park is empressive: the rivers Oka, Tasa, Bouzha, Karaslitsa, Shurovka,  etc.;  and lakes: Velikoye,   Sokorevo, Valdevo, Shaturskoe, Ivankovskoe, Shagara, Liharevo, Krugloe, Belenkoe and others. The area of only Klepikovskiy lake is about 3.5 thousand hectares.

Archaeological research conducted on the territory showed that there were 20 sites of the bronze, mesolithic, and neolithic periods. 130 monuments of archeology  are located on the banks of rivers. Objects of the Neolithic and Early Iron Age were found there, which are now stored in the State Historical Museum.

The park includes the following objects:

Reserve Klyazminsky. It is located in the southern part of the Ivanovo region and Kovrov district of the Vladimir region.   The water area of the reserve is 441.8 hectares, the length of rivers is 120 km, the shoreline of the lakes is 116 km, the number of lakes is 186. Mixed forests prevail: birch, pine, aspen, ash, maple, as well as marshes and meadows. About 20 species of animals live here.

Reserve Muromsky.
The reserve's location is the floodplain of the Oka River in the Gorokhovetsky and Muromsky districts of the Vladimir Region. The area of the lakes belonging to the reserve is 342 hectares. The terrain is marshy and overgrown with meadows.  The landscape is distinguished by dunes, hills, sands, and loams.

The Meschyorsky National Park in the Ryazan Region arose due to an increase in the number of fires. Under the leadership of V.N. Tikhomirov, the idea of creating a park on the basis of the Klepikov forestry was implemented  in 1992.

Park "Meschyora"
lies at the junction of 3 areas: Vladimir, Ryazan, and Moscow regions. The area is almost 119 thousand hectares.

The beautiful pristine nature of the national park is combined with excellent conditions for tourist recreation. On the territory of the natural complex, 14 parking lots and camping areas were specially equipped for guests.    Hiking, cycling or bus trips are provided.

Eco-tours. For those who do not have time, short routes are offered, which are called ecological paths. Guests will  get acquainted with information about local plants and animals.   In the park of the Vladimir region there is an amazing path of fairy tales, which is dedicated to the most famous fairy-tale heroes. You can imagine how suddenly Baba Yaga or Leshy go out of the dense forest to you - you will immediately feel like a character from a real fairy tale. Emelya, Ivan Tsarevich or Lyudmila with Ruslan can also be met on the fairy-tale trail. There are also paths: “Nature conservation”, “Window to nature”, “Paustovsky path”, “Journey to archeology”, “Tyukovo Settlement”,“The Road to the Temple”, “Journey to the world of Meshchyory”, “Journey through the ancient Ryazan highway”.

It will be interesting to visit the tourist complex and other attractions that are located in the wonderful city of Gus-Khrustalny. The exposition of the complex is very informative for visitors. One contains a huge collection of beautiful butterflies living in a national park. Another exposition is a collection of beetles. There is an exhibition of various lichens. The greatest interest is the huge layout, which accurately reflects the landscape and vegetation of the national park.

Local history museum. In the village of Tasinsky, located 35 km from Gus-Khrustalny, a unique local history complex was created. It also belongs to the natural complex Meshchyora. This is an open-air museum with old log houses, real baths and wells. Maslenitsa, New Year, Christmas and other holidays are celebrated here on a large scale.

You can book excursions and buy tickets to the museum on the official website of the Meshchyorsky National Park.
