Sochi receives hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. Olympic heritage sites are one of the most important reasons why people tend to visit the city. The fountain in the Olympic Park is rightfully included in the list of places that must be seen by everyone who comes to Sochi.

The Olympic Flame Bowl is  the official name of the Sochi fountain. The prototype   is the Firebird, a well-known and widely loved hero of Russian folk tales. Crowned with a torch at the top, it went down in Olympic history as the largest object of the Olympic flame. The height of the structure is 50 meters, and the width of the wings of the Firebird, which form a reservoir and singing fountains, is 100 meters. The diameter of the bowl is 100 m. There are 264 cannons in total, which release jets of water 30–70 m in height.

Every day since the 2014 Winter Games, the Firebird seems to unfold its wings and illuminate the entire Olympic Park with music and the light of singing fountains. An hour-long performance under the masterpieces of Russian classics fills the hearts of all those who visited this miracle of the legacy of the past Olympics with illumination and patriotic feelings.

Singing fountains are open all year round. The favorable climate of Sochi allows   receiving tourists regardless of the season.  You can get all the information about carrying out preventive work, as well as changing the schedule of fountains on the official website. The section "News" contains information about the timing of the prevention. The park's opening hours and the singing fountain show are updated daily. In order to avoid moments that can spoil the impression of your holiday, it is better to plan your visit to the Olympic Flame in advance.

The main schedule is listed on the official website. However, the park administration reserves the right to change the opening hours depending on the daylight hours.

If you decide to come to Sochi in winter, you can visit the singing fountain show from 18:00 to 19:00. In the spring-autumn period, the show runs from 19:30 to 20:30. In the summer, when the largest number of tourists comes to Sochi, the evening show of the singing fountains runs from 20:00 to 21:00.

The history of the creation of the fountain in the Olympic Park

The Olympic Flame Bowl  was the main element in the architecture of the Olympic Park. Surrounded by sports facilities, stadiums and arenas,   a 100-diameter pool and singing fountains  completed and balanced the image of the Olympic Park.

The chief architect   was Abramov P. B. The order was fulfilled by the Krasnodar company "Stroy International". The fountain technology was designed by the American company "WET", which created more than 200 fountains around the world.
After the Olympic and Paralympic Games, it was decided not to dismantle the gigantic structure weighing more than 250 tons, but to transform it into a decorative reservoir and singing fountains as a symbol of the past grand event. During the 2014 Winter Games, the singing fountains also functioned, giving a daily 12-minute presentation in the five colors of the Olympic Games.

264 fountains are installed underground, they beat outward, illuminated by individual spotlights. All management is carried out automatically. Dozens of people are developing the technology of singing fountains in Sochi, creating a program for each individual composition. The jets of the fountain rise to a height of 70 meters.

Another interesting fact from the history of the fountain is that after the closure of the Paralympics, the fountain workers collected three buckets of coins of different denominations in it. Fans and spectators from different countries threw coins into the fountain as a symbol of their subsequent return to Sochi. Until today, many tourists believe in this omen and throw coins into the fountain.

You have to move around the park either by electric car or bicycle, or on foot. Renting an electric car is very popular in the Olympic Park, which covers an area of 200 hectares. You can even take a guided tour and learn more about the Olympic venues on your way to the Singing Fountains.

However, if you are an active tourist and prefer to walk or ride a bike, the Olympic Park offers many options for this. Bicycle rental is located throughout the park and costs from 200 rubles per hour. It is a pleasure to walk in the Olympic Park. The fountain is located on Medal Plaza in the very center of the park. The Olympic Fire Cup can be seen from almost all parts of the park, and you can easily find it. The map of the Olympic Park is posted on the official website, and signs are posted throughout the park.

Singing fountain show in the Olympic Park

Every evening throughout the year, the Firebird unfolds its wings and illuminates the Olympic Park with the light and brilliance of its sounds and beating jets of water. To the great compositions of Russian classics, masterpieces of world music history, it amazes everyone who comes with incredible grace and the scale of what is happening.

Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky, Khachaturian seem to accompany the Bird, filling its movements with even greater brilliance and chic. Under famous operas and ballets, such as Ruslan and Lyudmila, The Nutcracker, the singing fountains begin their dance. Imagine that the Northern Lights have turned into water, beating and asking to go out.

Singing fountains change their program throughout the year. On the eve of Victory Day, the Olympic Park and all those present are carried away into a wonderful era, reminiscent of the victory of the Russian army over the Nazis. To the songs "Sevastopol Waltz", "Katyusha" and, of course, "Victory Day", the hearts of those present are filled with the light of patriotic feelings.

In the days of summer performance, masterpieces of world classics are often played: Michael Jackson, Queen, etc. Not only the fountains are dancing to this music, but also all those present.
