Vovnushki is an ancient village in the mountainous Dzheirakhsky district of South Ingushetia, near the border with Georgia. But more often, when people talk about Vovnushki, they mean the famous castle complex: the majestic impregnable towers rising from the mountain ridges on both sides of a narrow gorge.

It is believed that there was time when the two castles were connected by a suspension bridge.

The medieval tower complex of Erzi is located in South Ingushetia, in Dzheirakhsky district, opposite to the village of Olgeti. Nine martial towers that are surprisingly well-preserved and reach the sky above the Armkhi River, stand on a mountain slope.

The town of Alagir which has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for the number of shops is standing on the place of exit of the Ardon River from the Alagirskoe Gorge.

The Gunib mountain village (aul) where Shamil was hiding got virtually destroyed during the bloody battle. After the events a Gunib fortress with a Russian garrison was built there.

Belgians came to develop ore deposits in Alagir in 1896. They organized Alagir Joint-Stock Company, rented Sadonskie Mines, Alagir Plant.

The main attraction of Gunib is most commonly called the gazebo (or the rotunda) of Shamil, pushing aside another Hero of the events that happened here on August 25, 1859 - the Prince Baryatinsky.

The Gunib Plateau is a vast flat top of the Gunib Mountain of the Big Caucasus rising between the rivers of Avarskoe Koisu and Karakoisu.

The Past Dyavola (Devils Mouth) Waterfall (Psechiako) is located in the vicinity of Goryachiy Klyuch, in the upper reaches of the Maltsev Brook. The waterfall has four cascades, its overall height amounts to 23 m.

Greater Sochi is a truly gigantic metropolitan area stretching to 105 km along the sea. Mountains are coming close to the coast which does not let it grow wider, only longer.

Goryachiy Klyuch (Hot Spring) Resort is located 60 km to the South-east of Krasnodar along the Federal Highway Krasnodar-Dzhubga. The town is located in the Valley of the Psekups River.

Belaya Kalitva is the largest of the small towns of Rostov Oblast. The town is immersed in greenery, it is mainly a single-storey town among low hills covered with gray feather grass, it may seem a large Cossack village (which is historically the truth).

The Khrebtovaya Mountain is located on the territory of the resort town, it is the highest point in the watershed of the Kaverza River and the Brook of the Orlova Gap. Its height: 649 m. Rock outcrops come to the surface on the southern slopes.

The urban settlement of Gulkevichi is located 176 kilometres to the East of Krasnodar and is a district centre considered to be one of the most stable in the Krasnodar Territory. Gulkevichi received a town status in 1961.

Tsentarlny district hosts the most part of the iconic Sochi: The Winter Theatre, Seaport, Railway Station, Art Museum, Riviera Park and the Bocharov Ruchei residence in New Sochi, Sochi Arboretum, as well as the famous Soviet-era hotels Zhemchuzhina and Svetlana located a little to the south, on Vereshchaginskaya side (this district is better known as Svetlana) in Khostinsky district of Sochi. Khostinsky District is a famous spa resort, and beach holidays here are less popular than health resorts.

Lazarevsky district is the most remote from the airport and the centre of Sochi. The territory of Adlersky district hosts the buildings that were built in both clusters of the Olympics-2014 - mountain cluster (Krasnaya Polyana) and coastal cluster (Olympic Park in Imeretinskaya Valley).

Sochi has long been a nightmare of a car-driver. The situation with regard to traffic jams worsened before the Olympic Games, but still improved after the introduction of new roads and interchanges - a relief road of Kurortny Avenue, as well as the new Krasnopolyanskoe Highway opened at the end of 2013.

All souvenirs at the resorts of Greater Sochi are, basically, the same. In the season of 2013/14 souvenirs with Olympic symbols practically drove away the traditional shells and trees of happiness.

The climate in the area of Dubovka is moderately continental. Winters are cold, with little amount of snow, frequent thaws.
