According to Rospotrebnadzor, 145 people poisoned and 38 of them required hospitalization on “Seliger" youth forum. Rospotrebnadzor conducts a sanitary-epidemiological investigation. According to preliminary data, the food was kept in the heat for several hours, which lead the forum participants to severe food poisoning.

145 forum participants sought medical care in the evening of July 20 because of gross violations of sanitary and epidemiological code. It is known that 38 people were hospitalized in Ostashkovskaya central hospital in the Tver Oblast.

Participants of the "Seliger" forum actively discuss the incident in social networks and push versions of how so many people could be poisoned at once if the food for everyone is subject to sanitary inspections. Some participants argued that it was not the first time when food problems arise.

Others believe this is an isolated case: the food "was swept away from the tables right away", but did not stay a few hours in the heat. "The statement of mild poisoning is untrue. My kids vomited all day long. It turned their stomachs completely. All turned greenish, barely standing on their feet, chills. Someone fall down in a faint and could not even stand up," one of the shift counselors nicknamed Agatha Karatsupa writes in "Seliger" thematic group. Another forum participant suggested that guys were poisoned because of the food left from the first shift, and the second shift had it a few hours later.

Rospotrebnadzor of the Tver Oblast officially confirmed that on July 20 at 22.00  they received information from the Ministry of Health of the Tver Oblast on diseased  participants of "Seliger" youth forum having symptoms of acute intestinal infection. Agency staff added that according to the preliminary results of the audit there were revealed gross violations of sanitary and epidemiological code in the kitchen.

Federal Agency for Youth Affairs hastened to reassure forum participants, saying that the situation is under control and the forum is working normally. "After checking by Rospotrebnazdor and SES, the forum kitchen is working again," said the agency. Forum members also confirm the version that the poisoning occurred because the food for the participants stayed in the heat for a long time.

All-Russian "Seliger" youth forum is held on the lake with the same name in the Tver Oblast, near the town of Ostashkov since 2005. First three years, the event was organized by "Nashi" youth movement, but in 2009 forum came under the jurisdiction of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.
